Gusty North-Northeast Winds into Tuesday, March 30th
A wind advisory has been issued for the Bay Area hills Monday night through Tuesday morning.
While there are no fire concerns due to recent rains, it is important to bring attention to those carrying out prescribed burns or backyard burn piles. Some local power outages may occur due to the high winds knocking down tree branches or diseased trees. Temporary outdoor structures (i.e. medical tents) should be secured, especially if on the downwind side of nearby mountains.
Northwest winds will strengthen over the coastal waters, a Gale Warning is valid for the northern outer coastal waters. Mainly moderate period northwest swells through the forecast period, including fresh, steep wind waves developing early this week. Small water crafts take caution.
Winds should subside by Tuesday afternoon.
Some safety reminders during wind events:
• Hold the steering wheel with both hands & slow down if you're driving.
• Bring outdoor items inside.
• Stay clear of trees in case of broken branches or other hazards.
If you come across a downed power line, stay away from it and call 911. In the event of a power outage, information on the outage can be obtained at (800) 743-5002 and dial 9-1-1.
